This year’s event will be virtual, but it won’t be like any online meeting you’ve attended before. With McLaren leaders joining from Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, our Fall Leadership Meeting will offer insightful presentations and engaging activities—with a few surprises to keep it fun.

In addition to presentations from CEO Phil Incarnati and CMO Dr. Michael McKenna, the agenda will include a Q&A session with McLaren’s senior leadership. We’ll also be sharing amazing McLaren stories through video, highlighting the commitment, teamwork and resilience of our team members across McLaren Health Care.

Be Ready to Engage!

We know we’d all prefer to be in person for our Fall Leadership Meeting, giving us a chance to meet and socialize with leaders from across McLaren. However, for the safety of our leaders and their families this year’s meeting will be virtual. But there will still be many opportunities to engage and connect with your McLaren colleagues:

  • Leaderboard Competition: Through various on-screen actions, you’ll have the opportunity to earn points and rank on the leaderboard. The top 5 will earn prizes. After logging in on September 13, click “Leaderboard Competition” to learn more. Have fun!
  • Video Vault: Learn more about our McLaren subsidiaries through videos you can select on your own.
  • D&I Den: Get the latest update on McLaren’s Diversity & Inclusion activities, including updates from our subsidiary committees.
  • Networking Lounges: Be sure to visit the networking lounges, opening immediately after the last session. Stop by the McLaren Leader Lounge, the New Leader Lounge or the Nurse Leader Lounge to chat with colleagues.
  • Photo Booth: Visit the photo booth to view photos of your McLaren colleagues—and be sure to take one of your own!

Tips for a Great Meeting

Leaders participating in Fall Leadership Meeting REIMAGINED are encouraged to join with cameras on. Here are a few tips to help ensure a successful meeting.

Determine the best location:
  • Leaders are typically away from the office all day during Fall Leadership Meeting. However, you may choose to participate from your office, depending on your computer’s capabilities. Whether you decide to participate in the meeting from your home or office, select a location that is private and quiet. This will allow you to fully engage in the meeting.
Check your attire:
  • During the meeting only your shirt/top will be visible. However, if you’re participating from home be sure to wear appropriate pants/bottoms in case you need to stand and walk away from the screen. Business casual attire is appropriate.
Check your lighting:
  • If possible, sit facing a window so there’s daylight on your face. Otherwise, sit so the room lighting illuminates your face. You may want to place a small lamp/light next to your computer if it’s not too bright.
Check your audio:
  • If possible, use earbuds or headphones, as opposed to the sound from your computer speakers. This will help drown out environmental noises that may distract you (kids, pets, coworkers, etc).
  • If you’re using wireless earbuds, make sure they’re fully charged before the meeting.
  • Silence your cell phone and other devices to avoid distractions.
Check your background:
  • A quick test: Sit where you’ll be sitting during the meeting and take a selfie photo. Whatever you see in the background of that photo is what will be visible onscreen.
  • Don’t sit with your back to a window. The light from the window will make you dark on camera and difficult to see.
Check your connections:
  • Make sure your device is well-charged and/or plugged in.
  • Aside from the webinar application, close all other programs that may be open on your computer.
Check your zoom/computer attributes:
  • Make sure your Zoom display name is accurate, especially if you share your computer with your children or other family members. (Click here to learn how to change your Zoom display name before or during the meeting.)
  • Check to make sure your camera lens is clean.
Keep items within reach:
  • You may want to keep a pen/paper handy to capture any notes from our presentations.
  • Keep beverages, snacks, etc. handy so you don’t have to step away to retrieve them.
